Sun Signs for January 2023

The information in this column is limited. It does not replace your seeing your astrologer. If you know the sign of your Moon and your Ascending sign, read those sections also. This information is helpful because it mentions planets passing through your sign. These do bring opportunities.

Special note: Here’s wishing all of you the best in January and in the New Year. The emphasis this month is on the signs Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Gemini, and Aries. Whatever we have in our own charts, we also become these qualities temporarily. Capricorn sets goals, Aquarius knows, Pisces believes, Gemini perceives, and Aries acts. The Sun in weeks 1, 2, and 3; and Mercury all month are in Capricorn. We find ourselves being disciplined, remembering our high standards, and setting and achieving goals. While planets are passing through Capricorn they approach Pluto and stimulate forces. The Sun in week 4 and Venus from the 2^nd through the 26^th are in Aquarius. We are social and intelligent and friends with everyone. Planets passing through Aquarius meet Saturn and we become more serious. Mercury is retrograde until the 18^th, so, let’s continue to slow down and focus. Venus is in Pisces from the 26^th and shows our subtle sourroundings to be beneficial. Jupiter has left Pisces and is in Aries until mid-May. This brings the opportunity and expansion of Jupiter to Aries. After mid-May Jupiter will go into Taurus and brings those natives good things. Mars is in Gemini from week 4 of August until the 4^th week of March. This is huge and affects anyone with something important in Gemini, for example, the U.S., Trump, Kamala, and Biden. We all should harmonize our thoughts and speech to counter the tendency for these areas to be tense. Saturn, is still in Aquarius until March of ’23. It can bring difficulty to Aquarian things like: humanity, knowledge, friends, hope, and the future. It is important that we think, act, and behave in positive ways to counter this. This affects the world and us personally. Saturn can also promote drive and get us where we want to go, through positive qualities like planning, work, & learning from setbacks. Uranus in Taurus until 2026 brings the unexpected in finances, and the original in art. For Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius dealing with the unexpected or disruptive is on tap. This will take good managerial skills and the ability to know what we can manage, and what we can’t. Resting, being one of the good guys, and not living on the edge are important. The square of Saturn and Uranus is weakening and almost over. There shouild be less unexpected trouble, and less trouble with technical things. Neptune is still in its long term stay in its own sign of altered states, Pisces. Meditation can help us do this in legal and safe ways.

Pluto is still in Capricorn and brings transformation to government and business.

THE BIG STORY in ’23 is that Pluto, Saturn and Mars will change sign in March. Saturn goes from Aquarius to Pisces. Pluto goes from Capricorn to Aquarius and Mars will resume regular motion through the signs after leaving Gemini.The shift of sign of a planet shows a shift of circudmstances and events. So the bottom line is change. Our concerrns and events will be different in ’23. This month we should also note that 3 bodies go direct. These are turning points. Mercury goes direct on the 18^th and shows a turn in what we are focused on. Mars goes direct on the 12^th and shows our actions or troubles taking a turn, and Uranus goes direct on the 22^nd and shows our fascinations taking a turn.

A Full Moon in Cancer on the 5^th, 6^th, and most of the 7^th focuses us on our private lives and our public lives.

A New Moon in Aquarius on the afternoon of the 21^st, the 22^nd and morning of the 23^rd is a new start in our interests in people and ideas.

Remember that new, full, and quarter moons are powerful times during the month. Actions taken at these times should be positive and well thought out. The quarter moons are in Libra on the 13^th and 14^th and in Taurus on the 28^th and 29^th..

Days that look fairly harmonious this month are: 1, 4, 11, 12, 17, 20, 24, 25, 30, & 31 . For really important events, it requires a deeper look. Part of the magic of Astrology is how much better things go when we start things on good days.

Aries: March 20 to April 20. (Iran’s Moon, Angelina Jolie’s Moon, Manafort’s Sun, Pelosi’s Sun, A.O.C.’s Moon, Bernie’s Moon, Kamala Harris’ Moon) The Sun in weeks 1, 2, and 3, and Mercury all month square you from Capricorn. Try to honor both your personal agenda and your public image. And take special care with people above you and with speech. The Sun and Mercury join Pluto, already squaring your sign, and this adds a forceful element to this. Try to deal with this force by being assertive, taking aciton, and building self esteem. Jupiter is back in your sign until mid-May and builds you up and brings opportunity. Moon in your sign on the afternoon of the 25^th, the 26^th and much of the 27^th brings people and events.

Taurus: April 21 to May 21. (Biden’s Moon, Israel’s Sun, Melania’s Sun, Manafort’s Moon, Schumer’s Moon, O’rourke’s Moon, Booker’s Sun, E. Warren’s Moon) The Sun in weeks 1, 2, and 3 and Mercury all month trine you from Capricorn and bring support. Saturn squares you from Aquarius until March of ’23, and requires harmonizing friendships and money matters. Also try to get along with authority, and get deserved rest. This can bring new goals and success if you stay positive and be your best. The Sun in week 4 and Venus all month, add to this. Uranus re-entered your sign on March ’19 and stays until 2026; this will bring very interesting things and people to you. New vistas will open up for you. Plan for the unexpected; you will be managing it. Also be a good judge of character to avoid the influence of unreliable people. Pluto in Capricorn trines you until March ’23; this shows groups, practical methods, and learning promoting success and finances. Expect energy that you can use however you want; but manage stress and conflict if necessary. This is very important. The Sun in week 4 and Venus all month trine you from Aquarius and bring support. Saturn in Aquarius trines you until March ’23. This brings structure that is good for you and brings learning. Neptune is in Pisces squaring you until ’25. Imagination but also problems of will can come to you. If you value discipline and being realistic, you can get some intellectual and spiritual good out of this. Jupiter is back in Aries and squares you. Enjoy increased spontaneity but watch out for impulse. The Sun in weeks 1, 2, and 3 and Mercury all month oppose you from Capricorn. This can bring a variety of people with opportunity if you can get along with formal types. A long term opposition from Pluto in Capricorn requires good use of power. Build self esteem before dealing with any thing or person that is threatening. Neptune is trining you from Pisces until ’25; this benefits you and makes you more imaginative, insightful, and promotes learning. Jupiter trines you until mid-May from Aries, and brings support, expansion, and good things. Uranus in Taurus squares you until 2026. You may be managing the unexpected. Maintain balance and manage that which you can. New vistas will open up to you. Watch out for undo influence and try to get along with those above you. Saturn entered Aquarius in mid-Dec. ’20 and opposes you until March ’23. This is a big deal. This planet can bring opportunity if you can get along with the ambitious, older, and serious people that you are attracting. Also this planet adds to the Uranian tensions mentioned above. Virgo: Aug 24 to Sept 23. From the 20^th of August until week 4 of March, Mars is in Genini and squares you. This can add energy that you can use for all kinds of actions, but manage stress and conflict if necessary. This is important. The Sun in weeks 1, 2, and 3, and Mercury all month trine you from Capricorn and bring support. Neptune is opposing you from Pisces until ’25. This will make you more imaginative but value building discipline. See mate clearly. A positive attitude towards imaginative people will bring beneficial contacts.
